The City of Bloomington Day Care Resources Program was established in 1987 in response to the growing need to facilitate and implement child care services. A wide range of services is available to families, employers, and the child care industry. The purpose of the Day Care Resources Program is to increase public awareness of the value of and the need for high quality child care; to promote a variety of additional child care facilities, to develop innovative ways to reduce the costs of child care to parents; and to enhance professionalism among child care providers.



Services to Families
  • Distribution of the annual Monroe County Guide to Day Care and Children's Programs. Copies are available in the Campus Child Care Support Office, at the Monroe County Public Library, or by calling the Day Care Resources office at 349-3430.
  • The pamphlet "Choosing Quality Child Care: A Checklist for Parents" is available free-of-charge from the Day Care Resources office.
  • Car Seat Lending Program - Infant, toddler and booster seats are available. A $25.00 refundable deposit is required.



Services to Employers
  • A packet describing the range of options available to employers in responding to the child care needs of their work force. The Day Care Resource office also provides referrals to model employers, child care experts, and professional associations.
  • Descriptions of child care tax deductions and available tax credits.
  • Speakers bureau to make presentations at the workplace or at civic meetings.



Services to the Child Care Industry
  • Assistance with the licensing process by providing a copy of the state child care regulations and names of appropriate organizations and individuals.
  • Promotion and sponsorship of continuing professional educational opportunities.
  • Toy and resource lending library.
