The Campus View Child Care Center (CVCCC) opened in 1990 to serve children of
students, staff and faculty at Indiana University Bloomington, as well as the Bloomington
community. The center is licensed by the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration
for 43 children at any one time. CVCCC is also nationally accredited by the National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Located on campus, the center
is housed in Campus View Apartments.
Schedule
CVCCC is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. The center is open year-round except for national
holidays and the last two weeks in December.
Program Philosophy
The Campus View Child Care Center offers a program of play and learning activities that are
appropriate for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Children attending the center are involved in
child-centered activities that promote their individual needs. We feel that it is important for the children to develop:
- A positive self image
- Independence and responsibility for self
- Language, cognitive skills, logical thinking, perceptual skills and creativity
- An awareness of self and others
- An awareness of the natural environment
- An appreciation of the arts and diversity
Staffing and Classrooms
CVCCC employs a professional and experienced staff. The program is administered by a full-time
director. There are classrooms for infants, toddlers, two year olds, and preschoolers. Each classroom is staffed by two co-teachers plus part-time teacher aides.
Meals and Snacks
Children are served a morning and afternoon snack and a hot lunch each day. A hot lunch is
prepared by FoodWorks and is transported daily to the center. The cost of lunch and snacks
is included in the full-time weekly fee.
Parent Involvement
Parent involvement and parent-staff communication is highly valued and encouraged at Campus
View Child Care Center. The staff at CVCCC strive to provide as much information as possible to
parents regarding their child's day. Annual parent teacher conferences are offered each fall and
parents are welcome to request a conference at any other time during the year with their child's
teacher and/or the director. Parents may participate by attending center social events or by serving
on the CVCCC Advisory Board.
Enrollment
CVCCC enrolls children on a full time basis only. The center maintains a fairly lengthy waiting list so parents are encouraged to contact the center as early as possible. Enrollment is considered on a first-come-first-served basis. Children with siblings already enrolled at CVCCC are given priority for enrollment. Weekly fees include all meals and snacks.
